Description
The International Community should be advised that the government of the Federal Republic of Germany is currently in dispute. More than 4,000 attacks have occurred among foreigners in Germany since 2015, some involving the use of molotov cocktails, baseball bats and armed neo-Nazis even raiding children’s rooms. Media equivocation and a failure to prosecute hate crimes has made Germany’s far-right even stronger in recent years. It should also be noted, that Anti-Semitic crimes have increased steadily in Germany in recent years with 2,032 anti-Semitic offenses recorded in 2019, up 13 percent on the previous year. Hence the German government and law enforcement agencies need to make a greater effort to counter and prevent anti-Semitic offences. Also, Germany’s first nationwide report into rightwing extremism in the security services has revealed hundreds of incidents across the police and military that contravened the country’s constitution. Therefore the German Intelligence Community needs to take additional measures to counter and prevent rightwing extremism and racism in the German security services. Also, Germany's Federal Office for Constitutional Protection (BfV) - which is similar to the British MI5 - needs to make a greater effort to counter neo-Nazi activities, fascism, racism and xenophobia in the country; with two of the former BfV's intelligence chiefs having been involved in scandals in recent years - namely Heinz Fromm and Hans-Georg Maaßen - both of them being forced to quit and resign from the German Intelligence Community after failing to counter and prevent rightwing extremism in Germany. So regional and national intelligence co-operation must be improved by German authorities; within the German Intelligence Community as well as the German police. The Federal Minister of the Interior, Mr Horst Seehofer - who is in charge of both the Federal Office for Constitutional Protection (BfV) and the Federal Police in Germany (Bundespolizei) - must simply do a better job in countering racism, hate crimes, anti-Semitic offences and neo-Nazi activities in Germany; otherwise he must be removed from office. The International Community is advised to keep a safe distance from the German Government until these human rights issues have been resolved, and the German government has agreed to evolve and improve itself. In the meantime domestic policy, foreign policy and human rights issues concerning Germany will be handled by the NGO BTB-Global Peacebuilding.
